Sesame Suntan Lotion 

Summer is a time for endless beach days, tanning by the pool, and non-stop sunshine. When I think of sun I think tanning! My go to sun tan lotion is Lush’s Sesame Suntan Lotion, once you try it you won’t go back to anything else. This luxurious sunscreen lotion has a SPF of 10 and is safe for vegans. This lotion not only protects you from the sun but moisturizes your skin at the same time. Scented like sesame your mouth will be watering, weird I know. The cocoa butter and aloe will have your skin begging for more.

The sesame oil, aloe vera extract, and cocoa butter will have you feeling refreshed even in the hottest of sun. The nutty lotion will leave your skin soft even after your day of fun in the sun. Best part is you will be sun-kissed without being burned.

The only thing about this lotion is that it does remind me of Chinese food. Now normally I wouldn’t mind but while tanning this could be kinda weird. When using this with my aunt we could not help but think of that Seinfeld episode when Kramer uses butter to tan. Yes I am a HUGE Seinfeld fan. I am not sure if this made me love the tanning lotion more or less. Thanks pop culture!

So I know summer is almost over for most, but I had this saved in my drafts and never posted it ! Oops! Lucky for us Floridians we experience summer all year round!

Summer Time Fine

So this past Wednesday was the first official day of summer. Living in Miami every day can feel like summer. Although I wish I could spend most of my summer in Bimini where that picture was taken. Wherever you are, it’s summer time to enjoy the fuck out of it. When I was younger it was all about no school, music, popsicle, partying, and of course the beach. My must haves include a bit of the nostalgia of all of that good stuff with my own twist.

  • Little Black Dress: Summer approved, of course. Now i know what you’re thinking black in this summer heat. Yes it can be done. A simple T-shirt dress or a tank dress with some cute shoes and BAM your set. This is where #2 comes into play. LBDDress: dollskill Bag: killstar
  • A Statement Bag: Make it pop. It’s summer, what better time to show how you feel with a bag instead of a lame T-shirt? This can take any outfit from lame to the shit.   • Music: Now I bet you’re thinking um music? Yes ! Go out of your way and explore some new music. Support local musicians, go listen to some bands play live, ect. I went all out and got a record player. I am following in my grandfather’s footsteps and hope to start a collection. Of course i had to start with my favorite album that just celebrated it’s 50th birthday. FYI most artist have vynils and the MP3 version too.
  • Netflix: What is summer with out binge watching all your favorite movies and shows? I mean I’m all about partying and going all out but who doesn’t love to bum it out and watch an entire series in a week? Or re watch their favorite movie for the 100th time? Make sure to have fun with it!

  • Movie: The Shining
  • BEACH: If you are one of the luck ones near a beach take advantage! Not everyone is lucky as us! I have been dying to catch some up on some sun but the Miami weather has not been cooperating. Take advantage, it is summer after all! Make sure to wear sunscreen while you tan and don’t forget those lips!

  • Get Creative: Do something creative! Get out of your comfort zone. Do a DIY project, take a trip you have always wanted to take, get outside more. Do whatever makes you happy! Super Foods for That Summer Bod

Summer is coming, and it’s coming fast. We can all think of one thing that summer body! Well there are easy ways of slimming down without sacrificing flavor or spending hours in the kitchen. I’m going to give you some healthy examples that will put you on the fast track to the body you want with out all that BS. Just substitute these ingredients in your recipes. Best part is they are all vegetarian.

  1. Lentils– loaded with antioxidants that can lower the risks for cancer, diabetes, heart disease; also full of minerals including iron, zinc, potassium and folate
  2. Balsamic Vinegar– contains polyphenols or inflammation fighters, appears to help lower hypertension
  3. Unsweetened Cocoa Powder– usually you think unhealthy wrong, 2 tablespoons has nearly 4g of fiber and 16% of your daily value of magnesium
  4. Tomato Paste- research shows you might absorb the lycopene better in cooked tomatoes vs. fresh tomatoes, lycopene is the antioxidant linked to protection against certain types of cancer and skin wrinkles
  5. Pumkin Seeds– good source of minerals like zinc, iron, vitamin E, rich in lignans plant compounds that help moderate estrogen production
  6. Barley– keeps heart healthy, rich in fiber, reduces risk of hemroids, maintains a healthy colon
  7. White Pototoes– if not turned into french fries can be good for you, 140 cal per 5 oz potato, good source of fiber, contains carbs, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals
  8. Cauliflower– packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, promotes detox
  9. Artichokes- tough on the outside but soft on the inside; rich in fiber, antioxidants, polyphenols help in fighting cancer
  10. Parsley- 1 tablespoon = 1 calorie, helps build strong bones, rich in vitamin K and antioxidants
  11. Chia Seeds– absorb 10 times their weight in water, slows the absorption of glucose and keeps the blood sugar steady, high in fiber, calcium, iron, and zinc
  12. Sauerkraut– high in probiotics, boots immune system, prevents colon cancer, and can improve mood

So what makes most of these foods “super foods” is the antioxidants. That means these foods have properties that include anti-aging, protecting the body from cell damage that results from free radicals. This includes heart disease, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. I eat these foods all the time. For example pumpkin seeds as snacks, or cauliflower mashed up ( like mashed potatoes) the possibilities are endless. FYI it doesn’t have to be summer to be healthy! These foods taste fucking AMAZING and are worth a try!
