Coconut Oil: The Miracle Oil

We all have at least heard of coconut oil, it can be used for cooking, for skin and even for hair. Coconut oil is made of copra or dried coconut flesh. It has many benefits for the body both inside and out. This might be because it is made up of healthy fats including caprylic acid, lauric acid, and capric acid. Extra Virgin unrefined organic coconut oil has the most benefits.

These benefits include:

  • antimicrobial
  • antifungal
  • has antioxidants that help smooth the skin
  • helps with burns, eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis
  • great all natural conditioner, can also help with dandruff
  • reduces inflammation
  • great moisturizer and face cleanser
  • improves digestion by helping absorb vitamins, calcium, and magnesium
  • helps with blood pressure by increasing HDL
  • helps with UTIs by acting as a natural antibiotic and clearing bacteria
  • helps with bruises and speeds up healing process of damaged tissues
  • forms a protective layers over the infected body part from dust, bacteria, fungi, air
  • has a natural SPF of 4
  • filled with vitamin E, vitamin K, and other minerals like iron

In general it is not only filled with fatty acids, 90% saturated fats, but also fatty alcohols. Provides essentials proteins and highly effective in aiding in protein loss. This is one reason why it helps with hair loss and hair re-growth. Excellent massage oil. Effective moisturizer for all skin types, from oily to dry skin.

Here are some of my favorite ways to use coconut oil:

  • lice and dandruff treatment- massage into scalp and massage into the ends
  • body oil- apply onto wet skin after a shower and pat dry
  • cuticle oil- apply at the base of the nails, will also help your manicure last longer
  • lip balm- natural remedy for chapped lips
  • makeup brush cleaner- use 2 parts antibacterial soap 1 part coconut oil to clean
  • makeup remover- easy to remove makeup, especially waterproof makeup
  • face moisturizer- can be used as a primer under foundation for that smooth skin
  • body moisturizer- leaves skin glow-y not lotion-y
  • under eye cream- dab on under eye bags and fine lines

These are just MY favorite ways to use coconut oil. The possibilities are endless. This oil has so many benefits with very little side effects. The main side effect is allergy may occur if you are allergic to coconuts. Always remember when using on skin to do a patch test before using all over.
